Hi Izzy,
I don’t know what to tell you about the lack of a response from the staff about your poetry. Everyone asked me if I had seen it and they all thought the poems were clever and amusing. (As did I). For the record…..the Young People’s Concerts are only available on DVD. They are owned by CBS and were never released on vinyl or otherwise. The nine-CD-set costs about $250.00 American. As for your membership level, you should contact our membership department and explain your situation. They will take care of it for you.
We’ll talk soon…………….

Dear Jim,
thanks for taking time out from your harrowing schedule to get back to me about CHICAGO ! It was just a thought and there was certainly no obligation.![]()
I wrote a poem for almost everybody at the station. Apparently, there was a dull thud and a lead balloon hit the ground. Sorry that I bothered evertyone and tried to write a funny poem for their entertainment. If my humour was obtuse or off the mark, I guess I was 100% unsuccessful, in that not a single member of the staff acknowledged or commented positively or negatively about my efforts. I know from the past that I'm much like Woody Allen and feel guilt and shame about failure, a distinctly Jewish characteristic.. It was said of him that you either loved him or hated him and I have the same microcosmic reputation. Please see to it that the poetry is properlay erased or duly recorded, which ever is appropriate, thanks.![]()
If it's not too late for this Saturday's by request show, I would like to hear something humourous like the Ogden Nash version of carnival of the animals by Saint Saein. If it's not available I would like to hear the Peter Shickele version. If not I would like to hear the Zubin Mehta/Itzak Perlman version of Peter and the Wolf by Prokofiev. If nonr of these fits in with your show, I would like to hear the meowing duet with Victoria de los Angeled and Beverly Sills, if my recollection is correct. If none of the above is appropriate or available, then perhaps a short exerpt from the last 2 or 3 LP's of Leonard Bernstein's Young People's Concerts, which includes rock and roll, jazz and the blues, for classical music buffs. If not, then I guess I'm out of luck and out of guesses adn otu of choices...![]()
Incidentally, I discovered that I had contributed twice this year, once at a 240 dollar level and another at a 250 level. I never received my premium gifts from either. Perhaps it's a customs problem. Also, if my total contribution is 490, doesn't that make me eligible for executive parties and special functions as a "founder" who contributes over 299?![]()
All the best to you and yours, Jim. I hope you have contuing success with your BY REQUEST. I hope you might look at the idea of "Name that Tune" or the British version, "MY MUSIC:" or a more conservative show like Karl Haas' monthly mystery composer show, which was always a lot of fun. I think it could also be produced as a 30 or 60 minute spot and promoted to other PBS stations. I also think it could be a quicky 5-10 minute spot as Garrison Keillor does with his daily poetry and birthday tributes, which I'm certain makes money and cost a lot of money to air.... just something to think about.![]()
Adieu, my friend May all your problems be little ones. May the road come up to meet your feet. May the journey you undertake be shorter and happier than you ever anticipated, for you and your loved ones.
Izzy.

Hi Izzy,
Sorry about the delay in my response. Thursday next is not good because I’m at work. I have only a few days off left until June 30th. My wife and I were planning to use them sometime in June for a long weekend away from the kiddies. Anyway, thanks for the offer. Maybe one of these Sunday afternoons would work out though.
Talk to you soon.

Dear Jim,
I gamble frequently at Fallsview in Niagara Falls , Ontario . They have good shows. Recently, I gambled enough times to earn bonuses and one of them includes discounts to their shows and hotel accommodations. Chicago is in town Thursday, May the 8th at 8:30 pm. If you and your wife have the date open, would you like to be my guest for Chicago and a stay at the Fallsview Hilton Hotel that evening? It would be my pleasure to treat you, provided they still have accommodations open and tickets available. If you let me know soon, I'm sure I can arrange it. It would be part of what I had earned gambling and it would be my pleasure to have your wife and you, as my guests... I might even be able to get 3 seats together for the 3 of us. If I can get a date, that'll be 4 seats together and a nice evening for the 4 of us. Please let me know and I will go ahead with the reservations. If you and your wife gamble, we could spend some time in the casino, before or after or both. And I could get a chance to show you around the Canadian part of Niagara Falls , which is spectacularly beautiful, as you know. The Fallsview Casino is just that: it has a great view of the Falls...
If it's not convenient, it's OK... NF is not going away soon. We could also do something else at some other time, say a Sunday afternoon or any afternoon or evening for that matter. I'm retired and I'm not committed to any schedule.
I looked for EL&P without success. I did find a copy of The Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd and I listened to it in my car. It is still spectacular.
Sincerely,
Izzy.
